Tū Ātea X MPTT. From training to mahi.
Sometimes the next step in a career starts with a conversation.
We recently joined Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) for an employer networking evening designed to help tauira make the move from training into work.
MPTT supports Māori and Pasifika learners into trades qualifications, employment and apprenticeships, with a strong focus on creating meaningful career pathways and connecting tauira with employers who can help turn their training into long-term opportunity.
For us, the evening was a chance to do more than talk about the Tū Ātea Group.
We met tauira coming through the trades, shared some of the different pathways across our businesses, and talked about where skills like electrical engineering can lead in an organisation working across telecommunications, infrastructure and technology.
Three budding electricians stood out.
So rather than leave the conversation there, we invited them back to spend time with us at Tū Ātea, meet some of our people and get a closer look at the mahi happening across the Group.
It was an opportunity for them to see how the skills they’re building now could potentially translate into the kind of work we do – and for us to get to know some of the talent coming through.
That connection between learning and real workplaces matters.
There’s no shortage of talented Māori and Pasifika coming through training. Sometimes what makes the difference is being able to see where your skills could take you, meet people already working in the industry, and get a foot in the door.
We’re looking forward to continuing the kōrero.
